InstaLOD’s Remesher revolutionizes 3D asset optimization by delivering fast, scalable, and high-quality remeshing with minimal setup—even on complex, imperfect geometry.
A new video tutorial unveils InstaLOD’s Remesher, a groundbreaking tool transforming the remeshing process for 3D artists. Remeshing reconstructs input geometry to meet specific topological needs, like targeted polygon counts, while preserving surface details through texture data like normal maps. Historically, its adoption was limited by lengthy processing times, high memory demands, and strict requirements for clean, watertight geometry—challenges InstaLOD overcomes with ease.
Scalability shines with the “fuzzy face count target,” automatically adjusting polygon counts based on quality settings (low to highest). The video processes a 156,000-polygon communicator model using the same profile, creating a unified, optimized asset. It also crafts a chain of LODs (levels of detail) for both models, from high-detail to under 3,000 polygons, proving versatility across asset types.
